Question about the rods..
is there any way to look at the h-beams and the i-beams and tell which is which? or is there any way to tell if you have the h-beams? also...one of the rods has avery very very small hole in the "cap" (where it hooks to the crankshaft).it is black and very hard to see. it's not deep. you can run your finger over it and feel it. what will it take to fix that? about how much will it cost to fix that?
Yes. Describing it may be a little tough. I'll give it a try.
Stock rods are I-beam style rods. Single main rib running up the center of the rod (points side-to-side as installed in the engine) with the little "wings" on the ends of it pointing front to back as installed in the engine.
H-beams have 2 ribs running up the sides of the rods, pointing side-to-side as installed in the engine, with the center "connector" part between them pointing front-to-back as installed in the engine.
A good picture would be worth a thousand words here. Maybe someone could oblige...

I think I understand. If you are laying a h-beam flat on the ground it looks flat. then if you look at the side view it sinks in and has two "lines" i guess you could say. if i can find a camera i willl take apic
