open element

Is there any benifit from going from a stock air filter to an open element air filter?

if you have the single snorkel I think a open element will be better then that.Many will disagree stating that you will be sucking in hot underhood air but the single snorkel is so restrictive I dont believe that it could be better.You could make or buy a dual snorkel pretty easy and I think this beats them both.just my thoughts.you will get many differant answers.
