Question about roller cams and ealier heads

I have a question about using a roller cam with ealier heads. I have a pair of World S/R Torquers for my motor im trying to peice together. I have a roller block but the Torquer heads are pre-87. Is there any machine work that has to be done to the heads to use a roller cam with them?

The roller cam and lifters themselves have little to do with the rockers. If the push rods are guided by the heads, you install non-self aligning rockers (the pre-'87 type). If the push rod holes in the head are large and do not guide the push rods, you need to install guide plates and non-SA rockers, or no guide plates and self-aligning rockers.

The only thing the roller lifters will affect is the push rod length, but you need to check for proper length with any custom build anyeay.

Right, the heads do not care what design the lifters are, or vice-versa. Alot of us have been using roller cams in these motors for decades, before the factory "invented" the idea and totally botched it; it's a bolt-in.

Roller rockers are a slightly different matter. You can of course use those on any heads with any cam; same deal, they've been around for a long, long time. You have to make sure you use self-aligning ones in certain situations, and the original design in other situations; but the roller feature can be used in any motor.
