getting free engines, help me set up
ok i got two questions.......
i am getting two 305's from my uncle which are out of two late modle trucks. with out you guys saying buy a 350 just bare with me. what would be a good set up for a 305 engine to put out some power, i have done a search on this but wasnt satisfied with the answers i got. take me through a decent set up of intake, heads, cams and so on.
second, i have been checking the junkyards for 350's. i have found several IROCs but the owners of the junk yard know nothing about the cars and the vin #s have been taken out of them. is there any way that i can find out if it is a 350 or 305 in them. all of them have tpi set ups if that helps any.
thanks for the help

Casting number on the block. It's the only way to tell.
You can either crawl under the car and look at the 3 on the side of the block. Or if you can get your head over far enough, look down between the firewall and the intake and read if from there.
The older engines (2 pc rear main) have the casting number on the driver's side.
The newer engines (1 pc rear main) have the casting number on the passanger side, but there should be a "5.0L" or a "5.7L" on the driver's side.
So I guess the best place to look is on the driver's side.
