Code 32 after Engine Re-Build

Ever since my engine was re-built, I have been getting a Code 32 when I start the engine cold. I replaced the EGR Valve (new) and the Soleniod Switch (new) and the SES light didn't show up for a couple of days, but it is back now and it shows up everytime I start the engine cold. Could it be the O2 Sensor? (it wasn't replaced after the engine re-build) What else could it be? Is it ok to still drive the car?...by the way its a 89 GTA TPI 350

Fusion,

The ECM will scan the I/O on startup to check for connected loads and inputs. The only way to get a '32' code on cold start is to have a wiring problem to the EGR solenoid or EGR temperature switch. Of course, a failed solenoid or switch can do the same thing, since the ECM is only looking for a resistance range at the output.

Ok So I replaced re-replaced the EGR temperature switch and I replaced the EGR Solenoid and now the car starts and dies quickly!!! If I Disconnect the MAF Sensor the engine runs for a bit longer and I can keep it running if I give it gas. Has my MAF Sensor gone bad?? Or Did I screw something up when re-assembled??? Would a torn throttle body gasket cause this? (a section of the throttle body gasket fell off)

H,

You need to install a good, complete TB gasket. Unless something was connected incorrectly or gounded/pinched when you reassembled, the engine should start normally even with no EGR sensor.
