I need some help guys

My battery wont hold a charge. I started my car this morning and went to school with my lights on. Then I was sitting in the parking lot waiting for the bell to ring and my lights were now off but my car just shut off. I tried to start it again and it turned over once. Then I went to go to lunch and it started right up for me. After I got back to school I turned it off and tried it again. It wouldn't start. I had to be jumped after school and the car works fine while I am driving but my gauge reads 11. It is usually around 13 or a little bit more. I am not much mechanically inclined, so I have no clue what it is. Remember this is a secondgen so it is not computer controlled. Please any and all help is appreciated. thanks.

Sounds like the alternator is toast. It should read above 13 when it's working properly.

make sure your battery cables are tightened all the way down.. If it was your alternator, I would think, you wouldnt be able to start it back up.. but it is still very possible that.. i would turn your lights on, and jiggle the battery cable and see if it flickers. Thsi will show if one of your cables has an intermittant open in it.

As much as I hate to tell you to go to Autozone, they do give free alternator and battery tests. It may be in your best interest.

Transmission: sure does
There are three important thing to remember when checking electrical.......connections, connections, connections.

If these are good, move on to alt.

11 volts is low, I would have the alt. checked.
