Fan not starting.

Hey. Latley when I've been cruisin around, the engine would get hot and not want to cool unless i was goin like 50mph in 5th. So today I was wonderin if my fan was comin on too late or something, so I went outside and let it run for a while and get hot, but the fan never started. Once the engine cools, I'm gonna go check the motor itself, but if it isn't that, what do I need to start checking?

What year/model/engine do you have? The systems have some differences...

I've got a '92 TBI 305. And it's not the fan. This has happened before, but I couldn't figure it out and had to take it to a shop (I didn't have you guys yet). I think I remember them saying something about a heat switch. Could that have died again, and where is it?

Mine is -88 305 TBI and the heat switch (sensor) is located in the pas side cylinderhead, right underneath the exhaust manifold. I had the same problem, and the sensor was busted. Repaced it and now the fan turs on too early, engine never reaches normal temp... But that doesnt belong here. So your sensor could be bad, or the wire going to it might have melted.

Ok. I've traced the problemb down to the coolant fan switch. Its suppost to have a drd green/ white wire. Does anyone know where that is exactly or possibly have a picture?
