Valve Covers

I need to know if edelbrock valve covers will fit my 305 pontiac trans am or not. Autozone only had one box left of valve covers that said it covered chevy 226-400 or something like that. Will that work for my motor? Or do I need a special box thats specifically for Pontiac Engines only?

if your engine is a 91 like your sig says, they probably won't work.

87 and later use centerbolt valve covers.

CHeck to see what bolt pattern you have... if there in the center they probably will fit

since last time i checked the standard valve covers sold in your local pep boys are center bolts... uinless your going for the edlebrock high rise ones that you have to ask for behind the counter, those are side bolt pattern. check your car and then check the ones you want and see if they line up.

since your car is 305 thats right inbetween 200 and 400 or whatever it said they will fit provided the bolts line up.

Yeah, my car is an 86 and has the diagram where you bolt it down on the sides of the valve covers.

Don't be shocked when you discover that Pontiac had absolutely nothing to do with the engine that's in your car...

lol... what vader means is you wont find a pontiac engine in a 3rd gen.. they are all sbc's, unless someone actually took the time to swap one in.. pontiac stopped putting their own engines in at the end of the 2nd gen f-body cars in 81 as far as i know.. if your car has the origonal 91 engine it should have centerbolt valve covers.. you local autozone would most likely be selling perimiter valve covers for the older style sbc heads as the engines are far more common.. check to see what you have first... if i recall correctly valve covers for the centerbolt heads are normally more expensive.. if your just looking for something shiney you could always take yours off clean em up and givem a nice paint job and puttem back on with new gaskets.. it would be my guess that they are probably leaking by now anyway..

Edlebrock has two part numbers for the center bolt covers. Make sure the PVC & vacum lines are in the correct location for your engine.
