HELP!! I have many questions.
I have a 89 350 GTA. 104,000 miles, bone stock. Question #1: Will Ford injectors work in my 350? Im thinking of 24lb/hr, the previous owner only replaced 5 of the injetors and it runs worse each day. Question #2: I bought a Formula type power bulge hood for my car and would like to make it funtional. But it looks like it is for a carb car. Were these functional with TPI, and how can I get it to work? Question #3: What should my car run in the quarter? I have a 350, 700R-4, and 3.27 gears. What can I do to get this baby running consistent mid 14's? PLEASE HELP!!!
#1 yes, #2 It sounds like you have an early trans am hood. You could possibly make it functional by routing a duct up with a filter but it'd be more work than it's worth. Instead, run a conical K&N over to the fender and build a cold air box that gets air from the fenderwell. Then make the power bulge open for heat expulsion. cooling the engine bay will help more than you think. #3, hard to say because every car is different and every track is different. mid 14's are very possible but I've seen slow and fast examples. one way to find out, hit the track, Kyle
89,
Instead of installing larger than necessary injectors on an otherwise stock engine, it may be time to have your injectors cleaned and flow-matched. Rich at Cruzin' Performance does a very nice job of this and is extremely fast and reasonable. I've had two sets serviced and am completely satisfied. My first set was at 40,000 miles and teh flow on one injector was off spec by 38%, another was off 16%, and others were off 5-8%. They came back at +/- 2% and the car acted like it had a different engine - all for $80.00 plus shipping. Easily the best $80.00 I've ever spent on my TA.
