IROC,

What exactly do you mean by "all the pollution and smog stuff"?

Are you talking about the A.I.R. pump? EGR? PCV? Charcoal canister? Cat converter? What?

hehe.. My previous owner ripped the AIR pump off, but left the cat on... The lil connecty frobs that i assume go into the pump were left dangling... a while ago i noticed they had melted to my exhaust manifold! hehehehehe

IROC,

If you don't have emissions testing in your area (yet) then you can delete the AIR tubes from the exhausts and install plain headers without causing any ECM problems. You will still need to have the oxygen sensor installed in the exhaust tube set. The AIR pump can also be deleted, and you may or may not have a problem with the diverter solenoid removed from the system. On an '87, I don't believe the ECM looks for a load on those wires, so you should be O.K. You cat converter can still function without the extra air from the pump, and if you install newer high-flow cats, you don't need air injection at all to remain "clean".
