What you saw on TV is all the "proof" you are ever going to see.

The product is designed to accomplish one thing, and one thing only: separate a fool and his money.

What the h3ll is ZMAX? Any oil additive is not going to provide benefits in a normal engine. Some additives actually do damage. The best thing you can do to lubricate your engine is to use the proper grade of synthetic engine oil (err on the thicker side), change the oil and filter at regular intervals, and allow adequate warm-up when you start the engine cold. NEVER rev a cold engine. Try not to load the engine for at least 30 seconds to one minute depending upon the temperature. Start out gradually - baby the car until you see some movement of the temperature gauge or the oil pressure starts to drop to a normal range. And keep that crap out of your sump!

Actually, I asked this question here a while ago and some guys told me that it was good and worked for them. I wouldn't get it unless proven to do the things it says it does, and won't mess up other stuff.

I'm still shaking from that Slick-50 "truth" a few years ago.. I was putting that crud in with every oil change! (shakes head)

I'm interested in trying that Engine Restorer though... but again I'm worried it'll screw up my motor- especially since I don't have any big problems!

Before I got my Camaro, I had a POS 88 Dodge Daytona with a 4-banger. I used that Engine Restorer (looks like a tall soup can, grey in color) one time. The idle smoothed out some, and it revved much smoother. But thats in a 4-banger, things might be different in a bigger engine.

Hm, if it didn't cause any problems, maybe I'd be fine, too. I rather like the claim that it fills in cylinder wall scratches. I have my "last" compression test readings... after running with the stuff for a while I'd probably do another compression test and see if the #'s went up.

Did you add it to the engine when it was full of oil? Or did you pull enough oil out so that with the Engine Restorer in, the dipstick read full? The instructions "hint" towards overfilling the crankcase... and I don't like that.

Thanks...

Regular engine oil has additives that form the "glaze" on cylinder walls that you see on disassembly. The glaze helps the rings to seal against the cylinder. I think that engine restore just has a lot of that additive in it. However there is no rebuild in a bottle. When dealing with additives caveat emptor. I agree with Vader synthetic oil at every oil change with a quality filter.

The ex-wife used to use Restore in her Bronco before I rebuilt the 351W. It cut her oil consumption in half. But, this was on a very high mile engine that was BADLY in need of a rebuild. Without the stuff, she was burning a quart a week!

New (to me) 87 Formula 350. Edelbrock TES, Flowmaster, airfoil, K&N in modified airbox, March underdrive pullies, still slow....for now.

I used Engine Restorer in a Shelby Lancer a few years back. I did notice a reduction in the oil I was burning. I still used synthetic oil. I sold the car with 150K miles on it with only 1 head gasket job (radiator leak on a long trip, nursed it home and did the headgasket myself over a weekend) I never seemed to have a problem with the bottom end.
