8 Webber Carbs...
I need help...
... my fathers Ford 427 with 8 Webber Carbs on it is having a problem. I know this is non-thirdgen, but he is pissed and we are looking for opinions from anyone who will give one.
It was orginally a 427 with Dual Quads.... now converted into 8 Webbers.
The car idles beautifully with the webbers, as it never did idle all that well with the dual quads.
The problem is, the motor will not rev past 4,000rpm in neutral, or past 2,900rpm in gear, under load. The car has a manual and electric fuel pump, and it does this with both of them working parallel, so that is most likely not the problem. The fuel pressure for these webbers is typically 3.5-4psi. It maintains approx 4psi from 750rpm-2,900rpm but after that the guage starts bouncing all over the place as the car starts stumbling and won't rev any higher. We already changed the fuel pressure regulator, suspecting that to be the problem.
Anyone have any ideas, thoughts, opinions, comments?
Thanks in advance.
