Ignition Switch?or what?

this just happen today on 91 camaro rs 305 automatic

Problem when turn key to start i have no power that i know of to the starter, i hear no clicking of the solnor or the starter trying to engage. i move the shifter (Auto) in every postion still the same i have to start it jumping the soilnor with a screw driver to the start it

any ideas is they a relay for the starter?
how hard is it to change the ignition switch
or should i let a shop do it for 85.00

Try your rear hatch release. If it doesn't work either than more than likely it's the Park/Neautral saftey switch. I had the same thing happen to me and you just have to replace the saftey switch mounted on the base of the shifter. It's really easy and cost about $25. If you need any other help with it let me know.

I had a similar problem with my car. It turned out to be the ignition lock cylinder, it wouldn't go all the way to the start position (but it came real close). Any way, I bought a new lock cylinder for about 12 dollars. The hardest part was getting the lock plate pushed back down. I had to borrow a special tool from my brother.
