EGR questions..kind of long..

Ok, I read all the articles on the EGR valve and it's purpose. I recently posted a question on the TBI section with no response.
https://www.thirdgen.org/messageforu...ML/000081.html

When I changed my 305 TBI motor to a 300hp 350 with Holley 670 TB I put a new MAP, EGR valve and solenoid on at the same time and a new 350 knock sensor. I also change the plastic vacumn lines to rubber. I have been getting the 32 code for 4 years now and after the first year gave up on trying to find the problem. It only comes on if I am in 5th gear. Around town it never comes on. The more miles i get on the engine the less the light seems to come on and occassionaly it will go off while I'm still cruising down the road. Could these problems be linked to my cam and the different amount of vacumn it produces than what a TBI computer needs? I heard that a TBI computer needs more vacumn than a TPI computer? Or could it be my stock intake manifold causing the problem. I throughly cleaned the intake when it was off so everything was clean when I installed the motor. My exhaust is high flowing also, does backpressure affect the EGR valve?

Here's my new problem. I'm in the process of installing a Holley Projection intake and Holley claims the EGR valve required for this intake is from a 1978 Chevy 350 truck engine (which no one in town has in stock). There are also 4 valves listed for the 1978 350 Truck engine. My question is how is these EGR valves going to work with my 1988 TBI computer? I have yet to figure out which one will even fit on the manifold but even if I do find one what kind of problems (if any) will I run into using this EGR valve that was designed for a low hp, carbed 350 engine compared to my 300hp 350 TBI engine? The cam I have is the LT1 cam. What it hurt me to just block off the EGR valve. I tried this recently by plugging the valve and the solenoid but still got the 32 code as normal and noticed no change in performance than I did before. I may have even lost some gas mileage but not for certain. I would rather keep the EGR and have no 32 code!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
