400 cam choice

Okay, I just had another poston things like rod length, piston choice and all that jazz. Now I need to figure out what kind of cam to run. I called Comp to get a suggestion and got the part # 12-560-4. Looked that up on summits website and they show it as a Nitrous cam. I didn't say anything about nitrous and I'm definately not building the engine soley for enormous n20 shots. Anyone have suggestions for street driven 87 bird with a t56 and 3.27s?
Forged flat tops
manley h-beam rods
aluminum dart heads, 200cc runners and 72cc chambers ~9.9:1 cr
under a tpi setup, upgraded injectors and runners
1 3/4" headers and single 3" exhaust.
I'd like to rev alittle bit maybe 6-6.5k or so. But whatever can make the power.

Any help?

stock tpi? you'd have a hard time seeing 6000 rpm reguardless of cam, heads or anything else.

I realize stock tpi hardly breaths past 4800 let alone 6k...

The nitrous cams are ground with extra exhaust duration to scavenge the additional exhaust gases that the NOS generates. I'd guess that the Comp Cams tech recommended the 12-560-4 to work with the 400's big cylinder to help clear all the exhaust out, not so much to work with NOS.

The 12-560-4 also has a wide lobe separation angle of 113 degrees that will work with the computer better to maintain a decent idle. That cam is pretty hot after all, 224/236 degrees at 0.050".

I think it's these two characteristics that make it work with NOS as well as a big cylinder under TPI induction. I think it's a good choice, it will make more torque & midrange HP than you can likely put to the ground!
