Car screeches, won't go, totally random!!! Help!!!

Ok, I was driving my car today for a short 20 minute trip across town and back. All was fine as always, but as I approached my driveway and went to turn in, it was amazingly hard to steer... I looked at my tach and it was at 0. I coasted into my driveway and put the e-brake on, and went to start the car again. When I pushed in the clutch, it felt, uh, chunky I guess is the word, and harder to push than normal. I turned the key and the car started, but only to make the loudest most horrible screetching I have ever heard! I quickly shut it off, thinking it may be an engine bearing or something, and here I sit, car-less.

The clutch was replaced with a Luk unit in October of last year. The flywheel was also resurfaced or whatever the word may be. I don't really beat on the car and have only raced it a few times in April. I have had no problems with the clutch at all.

Please do help, as this is a very urgent matter!

A screetch is usually a loose belt and seeing as how your steering was really hard I would chech that first. Also if your car is idleing too low your power steering will not work properly. I cant explain the clutch tho. I would check the belts. Was it running hot?

Could be the throwout bearing as well.

Ok, what I meant by the lack of power steering was that, that was when I noticed it stalled. Once started again, all the gauges and the steering work fine, and it drives fine! I think it's an engine bearing now... it screeches linda like a belt but more grining metal wise... when I checked the oil, it was only about 2mm on the dipstick, that's about down a quart right? Would that fry an engine?

ALSO... I don't know if this has anything to do with anything, but I think it is too much of a coincindence.

I installed an aluminum driveshaft about 3 days prior... and the car wasn't leaving the usual drops of oil in the driveway... but puddles.

Maybe the 2 are unrelated and I just blew a seal and fryed it, I don't know. All I do know is, riding a motorcycle in 95 degree weather SUCKS!

Well, I finally figured out what it was.... the a$$hole that put my clutch in didn't replace the throwout bearing... and it went. Oh boy, a $25 part that is gonna take me a week to put in!

Any suggestions on things I can replace/check while I'm in there?

Shouldn`t take that long to change it just remember to take the tranny loose from the bellhousing first make it a lot easier.
