I've got a few things I really need to take care of.. I think I've got a fuel leak some where, my car is getting about 7mpg on the high way and theres a smell of gas when I lift the storage well cover. There are also some problems with the carb/ignition, I'm going to replace the q-jet with a rebuilt 600cfm edelbrock. But I'm not sure what to do with the ignition system.. I want to remove the computer but am not sure what kind of distributor or other items I would need...
Any help would be greatly appreciated. :hail:

Why do you want to get rid of the QJ? It's a great carb. The setup you have works great if you have it functioning properly. I've had an Edelbrock carb and such and was not impressed. The QJ is a piece of cake to rebuild as long as you have the right references and materials. I really doubt that your "gas leak" is caused by the carb unless the float is totaly out of adjustment or you hace a broken/cracked fuel line..

 

The main reason I'm ditching the Q-jet is so I can junk the computer, also I got the edelbrock for free. So only real price in that was the rebuild kit.
Had one other question, whats a good non ecm controled hei distributor to use? Or am I able to use any other kinds of distributors?
