What Cam + other quick question, l98 350

I'm ordering the Edelbrock Performer RPM 64cc heads for my 91 Z28 5.7L 350 L98.

I figure, while i'm at it, might as well get a cam to go with it, im torn between two cams, and i want to find out
a) that they are the right ones im looking at
b) which one do i want

I'm looking strictly for speed and street legality with this car. It has a well built tranny that will hold up to the power, im HOPING the rear will too but im not 100% sure, the only other thing i'm not thinking of I think is the possibility of needing a new ECM, if there's anything else i'm forgetting please tell me. Ok idle would be nice but eh, cant have it all. But here's my 2 choices right now.

Comp Cam 268H 218/218 duration, .454/.454 lift.

SLP Cam SLP51010 224/230 duration, .502/.510/lift.

The SLP cam is like twice as much as the Comp cam i know but eh, if it's worth the power it's worth the power. I thought about the LT4 HOT Cam but i dunno, i heard good/bad things about it. If anyone has any other suggestions for cams, or has a pick for the cam they would choose, i'd appreciate it.

My other question(s) is this: who makes a good rebuild kit for this motor as it has 113k on the odometer, how much is it, and where can i get it (i've seen a few in summit).

Isn't that Comp cam a flat tappet? The SLP is a roller. You really ought to go back with a roller.

Check Comp's grinds for the 87-up motor, look at the ones with grind # like 12-304-14. I can't get to their page right this minute, but I think that's about a 264HR, it's about 218/228 (you will benefit greatly from a dual-pattern with bigger exhaust with those heads) with somewhere near .500" of lift.

Don't get the regular 268H flat, it's the totally wrong design for a modern FI motor. If you're determined to go flat use the XE series cam instead, and have them grind it on 113° or 114° lobe centers instead of the catalog 110°.
