fuel pump problem

Would anybody know how to check the fuel pump to see if it’s getting power to it? I’ve checked the fuse and tried to follow the wires. If I was to unplug the wire where under the car by the tank could I jumper it with a pos & neg wire. The clip has three wires coming from on top of the tank purple black and a tan, which one is which?

I think the purple wire is your power wire to the pump, the other 2 go to the sender.

It might be easier to simply provide power to the pump at the ALDL, terminal 'G':
