major hesitation then tons of power...need advice?
When my engine is still cold occasiontally it will be hard to start then reeve up to 3000 and slowly drop back down. Then it will hesitate when I open the throttle some, almost like the mixture is way off and it wants to stall. But if i am moving and i mash the gas it will hesitate for about 1 second the burn rubber. The only thing i could think of is i have a mysterious vacuum line that comes off the EGR selenoid and is just sitting next to my fuel evap. canister (how i bought the car). If i put a sock or any other semi-porous material over it it does not hesitate, but at the same time does not run so hot. Sooooo, if any could please tell me where the heck that mysterious vacuum line goes you will be my hero. anyone have a pic of their vacuum canister area for a 92 TPI setup? Here some more info to help diagnose: fuel injectors are spotless, just hot tank my intake manifold last month, ported plenium, and stock cam and heads on a 305 92 TPI setup.
UVA,
Look at the underside of the hood or the top of the upper radiator support. There should be a VECI label with a vacuum routing diagram for your very engine. It sounds like the line you are describing is the canister purge line, otherwise it would opnly have vacuum when the EGR was enabled. A leak there would cause a high idle and lean operation all the way up to road speed.
