went to test and tune tonight and the car ran like a crippled three legged dog, please help me !!!!
here is how it was set up in addition to the sig below:
1'st run:
timming set at 8* btc.
.76 main jets in the Holley 750
fuel level set right on the carb
Holley red pump held 7 psi the whole run
2'nd run:
same as first except the timming set at 12* btc.
I forgot my jet set at home so I couldn't change them, I read the plugs when I got home (early), they showed to be a LITTLE rich but not bad.
heres what the car was doing:
has no acceleration at all, spits and sputters off the line, when it finally came on it would only go to about 4500 rpm then it would start spitting and sputtering again. I have a accell super HEI coil which was brand new for these two runs, but the module is *** know's how old ????? that will be changed tomorrow, do you think that would cause the above problems. I noticed that it got worse the hotter the car got, when I was loading the car on the trailer it was still pretty hot and it was missing pretty bad.
run #1 was as follows:
60' --- 2.524
E/t ---- 10.01
speed -- 75.860
run #2:
60' ----2.539
e/t ---- 10.117
speed -- 68.433
needles to say I was very disapointed in these times considering everything that's in the car. I was hoping for at least low 9's from this combo.
also I tried backing the timming to about 2* but the car wouldn't even make it to the line so I went back to 8*.

yeah check that module out, and check your cap for any signs of carbon tracking. How old are the wires?
well, got up this morning and started working on the car, found a couple of problems, each one causing one problem. first I found the check ball in the accelerator pump was jammed and wouldn't seal, then I replaced the ignition module, when I pulled it out I found that one of the wires was rubber bare and had been grounding out.
I went back to the track and made 4 passes and all went well, had just a slight hesitation off the line but reved all the way to 6,000 with missing a beat.
best run was 8.63 with a 1.95 60'
I'm content with that (for now) considering the motor is factory stock with the exception of the Holley carb.
