Well the LG-4 engine is out of the 83 T/A and I found out the heads had been off the motor once before and somebody knurled the valve guides. So I went ahead and had bronze guides put in with a 3 angle valve job.

I will be installing the 3702 Edelbrock camshaft as well as a new timing chain. I got to keep everything emissions legal to pass E-check here so I hope the camshaft is a good improvement over the .350 lift cam that was in there. The new one is .398 .442 lift with 194 214 duration @.050. With the 8.5 to 1 compression that cam should be OK.

The newly rebuilt 5-speed and new clutch should work fine I hope. I will be re-using the 305 aluminum intake manifold and still have the LG-4 exhaust manifolds so performance should be a little better than it was with the new cam, lifters and valve springs. Any opinions?

 

Yea one, dump that edelcrap cam and get an MTC-1. (melling MTC-1, every parts store stocks them)
You will see major improvments with an MTC-1 and it will make the computer happy and run super clean for the E-check.
