hey everyone once again i have problems with my car. ok i am restoring an 85 iroc and i am all done with everything and trying to start the car. IT wont start. i turn the key and nothing at all happens. no fuses are blown the starter is hooked up correctly also i believe. when i jump the two terminals on the starter it fires up but without jumping it wont work. battery is not dead, i have changed no wiring except the tpi harness and ripped oput the computer. the car used to have a 305 tpi in it now it has a 350 with a holley 650cfm carb on it. the starter worked when i took it off the old 305 and seems to work still just not with the key. anyone if you could help please let me know what i can do to fix this. it is really holding up the selling process of this car. i am thinking i need to jump some wires that used to plug into the computer that are still hanging under the dash on the passenger side..

 

when you jump the terminals on the starter and it fires up means your not getting the power to the purple starter solenoid wire, could be the neutral safety switch on the transmission shifter, is it an auto or manual?

 

it is an auto and i thought that may be a problem but what does the neutral saftey switch go to?? how can i by pass it maybe and why did it work before and not now?? the car had tpi and someone (not me switched it to a crappy stock carb 305 left the tranny alone... i only put in a 350 with a holley 650 and left the tranny alone also except for new seals front and back and pan. so i guess i need to know of any other things that may stop it from starting and also where this saftey switch goes and how it works so i can maybe bypass it. i dont mean where the switch is int he console i know that part i mean where under the dash or firewall is it located.
