350 questions
I have bought a 350 that was taken out of a another car at the shop my brother works at and I have some questions. I have some plans for it and would like to know the opinion of the many on this board that know more than me. I have a set of vortecs that I'm going to let my brother port for me and I'm going to change out the springs to accommodate the cam I want to use. This is a Comp Cams XE 284H(.507/.510 lift), I want a good bit of lope. This is my everyday car, but I really don't drive TOO much and it's not going on any cross country voyages or anything. It's going in my 86 iroc tpi, so of course I'm going to use the SDPC vortec intake and 24# injectors. Eventually I will get long tube runners. I already have long tube headers and a stock cat back exhaust off of a 2001 SS and I'm keeping that. Sorry for the long post but I really wanted some opinions on this setup and would like to possibly get some ideas on the type of power it would make.

I think that cam is too much for what you are trying to do. I suggest the 264 or 269. Still going to give you some of that lope you are looking for. With a TPI you really want to set up the engine for lower RPM use because the TPI does not accomadate higher RPM power normally. I think a cam with less duration will make you happier. If this car is going to be used as limited street car than you want to maximize lower end grunt to help you win in stop light warfare!!!
BTW, I think you are looking at flat tappets and I am looking at rollers...
