I was rodding my car this weekend. I hit first and second fine and then I could not grab 3rd right away. I hit a little bump in the road. I dont know if this has anything to do with it but, I went to slow down and my car died. It started back up, but now it runs like s**T. It dies while I am driving know, the engine light will come on. It runs rough and it contineously dies out. I dont know if its bad gas, or maybe when I hit that bump something came loose. But I am lost and dont know where to start.

 

i would check all your plug wires. maybe the bump knocked one loose. is 3rd gear working now? 4th ?

 

Yeah, the gears are fine. I was just saying that I grinded in third and it was just coinsedental that after I grinded trying to slam it in third and hitting that bump that my car started f****** up. Its to hot right now to check my back plug wires, but that would nice if thats all it is but I dont think so.

 

yah be sure to check the cap too, make sure all your plugs are pushed down firmly. if that doesnt help, check your coil wires, make sure they are secure. if that doesnt help, maybe pull your cap off and check for cracks. what engine/tranny do you have?

 

I have a 305 TBI and a manual tranny. I just installed a custom chip last month and chris the guy that burns them said I need to put high octane gas in it or it will cause the engine to ping. I dont know what ping means but I was wondering if maybe its bad gas. I did put premium in but you know how gas goes sometimes.
