Whenever I stop my car after driving it for a few miles, especially after driving agressively, I can smell what seems to me a "burnt plastic" smell. Any clues whatsoever as to what this could be? Is it my tranny? Engine? No idea here
Thanks

PS car is a 1989 TPI/Auto

Jeff,

I recently replaced an aging Astro van with a 2000 model. The same thing happened to me with about 800 miles on the odometer. I phreaked! After stopping and getting out to find the "fire", I discovered a department store logo burned onto the shiny new muffler from the plastic shopping bag I'd rolled over several blocks before. It smelled of burned plastic for about three days.

Just a possibility.

GM Tech,

By the way, that muffler is freakin' HUGE - what's up with that? I could store a spare Nissan inside it...
