engine + computer stuff
engine + computer stuff
Im a fairly new owner of a 91Z. i bought the car with k+ns, a hypertech, and catback flows. its got 60,000mi. the car was neglected as far as maintenance before i changed all fluids. i am pretty clueless about computer stuff and codes. is there anything i should know about along these lines? should i have my car checked out by a mechanic as far as making sure it is running at its peak potential or is it perfectly fine the way it is. i want to make sure the engine is running as strong as it can. any input is appreciated.

You might take a look at (or have a shop look) the belts, hoses, tune up, etc.
If its a automatic, hows the trans fluid?? if its brown or burnt smelling it should be replaced.
Do a brake inspection, Basically you should check over everything that you can so you don't get stuck running metal on metal with the brakes or blowing a hose on the road.
Just a good visual inspection would really be all you need.
When buying used cars you really don't know what you are getting into.
The visual will just give you an idea of what you will be needing to do in the future, there is no way of knowing what was done in the past.
As far as the computer goes, if it runs good and the "check engine" light isn't on you should be OK.
