Car: '89 GTA, '15 Camaro LS 6sp.
Engine: L98, LFX.
Transmission: 4L60, AY6.
Axle/Gears: 3.27's.
If your fuel pump is shot, your car definitely won't start. Could be the relay though. First, check to see if the fuel pump fuse has been blown. You never know. Then with ignition on check to see if there's 12v power at the relay terminal and go from there.
Some fuel pumps give you a little warning before going out. Others go completely dead and leave you stranded somewhere. Running the fuel level under a 1/4 tank all of the time is usually a bad idea because it helps cool the pump during operation.
If you decide to have a shop do it, make sure they don't cut a hole inside the hatch area to access it. A lot of them like to do this in order to cut labor time. The proper way is to lower the axle, exhaust and then drop the gas tank to access the fuel pump inside.
