Steam hole diagram for 406 heads
Anyone have a pic of the correct angle to drill steam holes in heads for a 406?
Also would there be any reason trickflow TWS G2 heads would be different then the standard angles?

I just took my heads to a machine shop and they drilled the holes for 10 bucks and cleaned them up again. I thought that was well worth it.

Get a 400 head gasket, and lay it on the deck as a template. Mark the holes with a center punch.
Drill the ones on the exhaust side straight in; and drill the ones on the intake side at an angle toward the exhaust.

Every head is a little different. The location of the holes is always the same (use 400 gasket as a template). However, the ANGLE of the holes can vary considerably from head to head (especially aftermarket). Stock heads it's like RB said.
The main thing is that the hole has to hit the WATER JACKET on the other side. Getting the angle wrong by a few degrees won't hurt anything, but you don't want to be too far off.
