Gushing in Master Cylinder
Gushing in Master Cylinder
I noticed a strange thing in the master cylinder today. I have an 88 GTA and the mast cyl is translucent, so that you can see the brake fluid level. The strange thing was that whenever I step on the brakes, I can see a spurt of brake fluid gushing up inside the master cyl. It gushes up the side which is facing me as I step on the brake pedal. This seems weird to me. This is happenning even though the lid on the mast cyl is closed tight. Is there any way this is normal ?
I am currently checking out the brakes to get rid of a pull to the right during hard braking.
Thanks

Yes that's pretty much normal.
A pull to the right is usually caused by a bad left front rubber brake line, the one that is directly hooked to the caliper. They rust up inside at the fittings and get restricted. That is their usual and customary failure mode.
Put Earl's stainless ones in there. You'll be amazed at how much better they work.

Thanks. Glad to hear the gushing is OK. BTW, I was all set to put in a new front left hose, but then I noticed the right front wheel was hotter than the left. I checked the right fr caliper and it was hard to move the piston with the C clamp, and it creaked a lot, so I might try replacing the right fr caliper first and see what happens.
