WOT Surge???
Alright here's my problem, when I get on the gas now the car goes to about 3500-4000 rpm and then it seems to cutout and drop off surges back up then cuts out. It doesn't seem to wanna go past 4500rpm. I replaced the fuel filter and hooked up a fuel pressure gauge and have good pressure when I floor it but it still surges. Anyone have any ideas. I thought it could be an ignition problem or a clogged catalytic converter. Someone give my some ideas before I go cut the exhaust in two.

What about the knock sensor? Does anyone know what the car does when they go bad? If it didn't provide the signal to the computer for timing then could that cause my problem. I guess next time I'm down, I'll try testing the spark plug wires(anyone recommend a good tool) and maybe plugs and then replace the cap and rotor.

If your knock sensor is bad and it's NOT pinging then it's NOT retarding the timing which could be bad also.
If you haven't done a complete tuneup in a while then that's the best place to start.
