Newbie question...

Having been on the board only since last January, I did not get to see the posts from last autumn. I've seen the seasonal posts from January on, and am wondering what the onset of cooler weather has to offer for ThirdGenners in North America.

In the dead of winter, it seems that many people had engine rebuild and modification questions. As the weather improved, the typical post was related to getting the cars out of storage and the associated problems, like fouled injectors, generally poor operation, leaking heater cores, and all the things left over from the previous season. Spring and early summer seemd to bring out the traction questions, and posts related to in-the-driveway" mods like header and exhaust installations, "What size tires can I use?", and tweaking this and that. Summer brought on the inevitable "Why am I running hot?" posts, and questions about improving 1/4 mile times. Late summer seemed to elicit posts regarding planned engine swaps and builds, tuning questions, and the finer points of getting the car to operate "just right". Interspersed through the whole period were the usual "Oh, Crap!" problems that can occur any time.

I'm curious what the upcoming months have to offer. I'm already seeing a few hard starting and poor cold performance questions, and some for cold storage tips. I thought we could plan ahead, pool our resources, and be a little proactive. What sorts of fall/early winter problems have we had, and what was done to remedy them? I have a fairly good idea of what's coming, since I've weathered a few winters since I had my first car, and have done my share of recovering customers' dead vehicles on the -20°F mornings of my more youthful years.

I'd be curious to see what the most common problems are. I'm guessing that we'll be seeing a lot more non-ThridGen questions as our "babies" are put away and our "beaters" are put into service in the snow. I know my "good" cars will be blocked in the garage with the AutoCondoms on, and the TBI engines will get their chance to perform.

Well...any ideas?

That's kind of a hard question to answer Vader. Down here in Louisiana it rarely gets very cold. We have like 9 months of hot and 3 months of not-so-hot. I have had no trouble with my car(LO3) since the cooler temperatures. Is there anything that I should be worried about?
