HELP! distributor wont go all the way down
Ok this is pretty weird and has me completely confused. I've put in a distributor literally hundreds of times and this one wont go on my new motor....
When you try to drop the dist in it'll go down but will not go over the oil pump driveshaft. No matter which way you turn and twist it, it just doesn't go on the oil pump! The distributor is an MSD Pro-Billet and I've used it before. I also put it on my old motor and it goes right in. It seems to me that the oil pump shaft is smaller than normal? Is this possible I thought they were all the same? Could the dist gear be different? I'm COMPLETELY confused I played with this thing for an hour and it just wont go on...
Thanks,
Chris

I noticed this also with my ARP oil pump driveshaft, it's a PITA to get in. I just keep trying to jam it down there while twisting a bit and it eventually goes in.

Holy crap I after another hour of playing with it I got it in. I also have the ARP one what a PITA.... I mean REAL pain. I'm assuming the clearances are tighter so it has to go down perfectly straight and at the exact angle or it won't go down ...aboslutely no room for the slightest off-set
