I am moving to norther california in the mountains, and I need a 4x4 with some ground clearence. So it's ether 4x4 it or no camaro at all. And I really really want a camaro. So how do you exacly do it. I have an old 85 chevy short bed truck thats four wheel drive, and no title. and a 92 blown v6 rs I picked it up at a junk yard with a title for 50 bucks. so how do I mate the two?: thanks for all the help in advance!!

Hate to break it to ya....but if it's 4 wheel drive or no Camaro, I don't see an F-body in your future. Could it be done?? Who knows...I guess it's certainly possible if you were to cut away huge chunks of the unibody and somehow attached a truck frame to it. To me, if for some reason I wanted a 4x4 Camaro, it wouldn't be worth the months and months of labor and the thousands of dollars to get it done. But hey, if you feel ambitious, by all means go ahead. I usually suggest to people to do some research before they plan a project. In your case, I would be very surprised if you found ANY information on a swap like this. Unless someone has the known facts about that orange Camaro....I'm just going to assume it's a photoshop job. But if you were to get a project like this complete, I commend you greatly for going against douche bags like myself and finishing it. In any case, good luck.

Quite possible to do it like the pic above. Your going to need a mig and an ARC welder for heave frame work. use an S10 frame as a base block it to the chasis, rework the tunnel to accept the transfer case. Whew lots of work for somthing that you cant mount a bumper low enough to make it street legal any where but possum lake.

If your moving any time soon like within 5 years and you have a job, you most likely won't have the time for it.

Like previously mentioned, if it was a tossup between a 4x4 camaro or no camaro, go with no camaro. It is utterly pointless and won't feel like driving a camaro or even look like one. So if it doesn't drive, feel, or look like a camaro, then its not worth it.

Not something I'm into but wouldn't be too hard to do. Would be easier to start with the body of car that originally had a chassis instead of a subframe. Then relocate the frame mounts to line up with the body mounts. Check clearances and drop it on. Seen all types built, vega on a jeep chassis, impalas on truck chassis', chevelles, etc. but wasn't my thing so never really paid attention to their details. Would be easier, like mentioned earlier, with an S10 chassis and a GM metric based 108" FRAMED car (78-87). There would be less welding involved. The length and width would be within reason. Might not have to make alterations to the firewall of trans tunnel. Otherwise you are going to have to weld in plates/mounts on that thin sheet metal. Hope you can get that car high enough to weld upside down too.

Be prepared to do a lot of measuring, re-measuring and fabricating. I would also look into the motor vehicle laws before you start hacking stuff up. Then make sure you have chassis totally leveled before cutting it up and welding. No matter how ugly it may look to some, you'll still have something that not many have. Not much different than grafting or replacing an older vehicle's chassis with a newer one. Below are a few links I found. Maybe you could email them for some pointers. Theres an iroc in town thats on a 4x4 chassis.They call call it the Camazer because its on a blazer chassis.It's actually pretty cool looking.But the guy did a good job on it.I dont know if that helps any.

It was all the rage about 20 or 25 years ago now I guess, back when the whole "urban cowboy" thing was in full swing..... rednecks were doing that to almost anything, from a Vega to a Lincoln Town Car to a Trans Am, and thought it was cool. I was living in the South at the time and saw quite a variety of examples.

It's real easy. You just get a 4WD truck frame, cut it to the right wheel base, and stick a body on top of it. Complete no-brainer.

Please don't do it to one of these cars; people make fun of us enough already.

as for your project, it sounds like you have all the basic pieces you need to fabricate this thing, its just a matter doing some custom fabbing and some modifiy of stuff. good luck with your project.
