Intake manifold gaskets

I finally removed the intake manifold on my 2.8L MPFI and noticed that the gaskets on the side walls of the intake manifold weave in an out of the push rods(?).

So do I have to unscrew the rocker arm bolts to be able to feed in the new gasket?

Also what is the china wall and should I be using a gasket for this, or just sealant?

Thanks for the help.

never had a 2.8 apart, but if what you say is correct that would make the push rods come out the intake? doesn't make sense to me, but like i said i never fooled with a 2.8. china wall is the part of the block that mates to the intake, or front and rear. i use the gaskets if the engine is on a stand and i can see it and get to it good. if the engine is in the car i use ultracopper instead of the china wall gaskets. some gaskets sets don't come with the china wall gaskets, just a small tube of RTV sealer.

Thanks

Thanks ede. I took a closer look at the gaskets and the have the word written "cut here" so this will make it so I don't have to do anything with the push rods.

With regards to the china wall, thanks for the explanation.

All that is left is to have the parts cleaned up and put back in.

Hurray. This will have only taken me about 5 hours.
