balancing weight on flex plate

On a 1 piece rear main seal crank on the late model 305s. Which side does the weight on the flex plate sit on when it's installed. Is it on the engine side or the towards the rear of the car?

I know the flex plate says which way to go, but it's already installed and the motor is in. and the weight is the only thing I can see without unbolting it and pulling the trans back.

As long as the little "pads" on the flexplate that the torque converter bolts onto are bubbled out TOWARDS the torque converter it's installed the right way around.

I thought the holes were asymmetric, so the weight would be in the right place relative to the crank (and therefore it couldn't go on backwards, anyway).

I don't know, I'm at work so obviously I'm not able to look at it right now. That would make sense but then why would they stamp that sentence on their "this side faces motor". Hmm.

Whole reason I was checking is the new starter seems to be chewing up the flywheel. And the motor is newly installed. I know it's offset from the mating surface so if it was on backwards the gear would probably not be fully engaging.
