Aftermarket Distributor Now Computer is in limp home mode i think...
Ok here is my problem. I swapped in a brand new vaccum HEI from summit racing a few weeks back cause my factory computer HEI was not advancing the timing corectly and i couldnt figure out why that was. No codes were being set but you could tell things were not right. It had accerlation that was not smooth at all for instance. Anyways i got the new HEI in there and got it all hooked up and now accerelation is super smooth and the whole car seems more zippy and timming is A-OK. But the car is running rich. I still have the computer quadrajet on the car and i am shooting up a couple codes. I think 12 obviously cause the car cant find the ole distibutor and that other one which i cant think of right now that has to do with the sigal the ECM gets from the ESC module. I think that the car is in limp home mode and has set the carb to one mixture setting and thats it. Is there anyway to fool the ECM into thinking the ole HEI is hooked up so that the thing will look at the O2 sensors readings and run at the proper mixture? Any ideas guys? I have been driving my Nova cause this thing has been getting like 12 or worse miles per gallon in town. And the straight six nova (1970) by the way three on the floor gets much much better gas mileage. Any help would be appriciated.

Mods- IROC Front and rear anti sway bars with energy suspension endlinks and i also added the wonderbar, No exhaust after the Cat though fell off and to cheap to buy a 3 incher yet so I have to be quiet.
Fourth Gen seats now. LM1 350 Crate engine!!! Good no more LG4 evil bad naughty things.
Still seem to get descent Gas mileage. All major computer stuff hooked up and running good.

As far as I know you need to macth the computer controled carb to a computer controled dist, You either should computer all the waay or take a step back and go the no computer route.

Yep. Either both computer controlled distributor and carb, or both mechanical. You can't mix the two. The carb is in the full rich mode at all times because the computer isn't getting the distributor signals it needs to adjust the mixture. Code 12 just says the computer is working (you'll get that with everything working properly).
I'm getting 20 mpg commuting, 27 highway. Without a functioning TCC. 12 mpg is pretty good with full enrichment all the time.
