Buying advice
First off I'd just like to say Hi to everyone (I'm new). I wasn't really sure where to post it, if this isin't the correct area then I'm sorry in advance.
Anyways, I'm planning on buying my first camaro. I don't have that much money, but enough to buy a low priced camaro and mod it a bit.
I've found a used 87 IROC-Z Camaro for $2700 dollars. It has 189k miles on it with a rebuilt engine at 159k miles (30k after rebuild). It has a 305 V8 (TPI) with an automatic transmission. It has power everything. The AC works but needs a recharge. The exterior is nice, But has two tiny rust spots (1-1 1/2 at most) above either back wheel. The car runs great, accelerates and breaks nicely. It has a clean title. This is all the information I have on the vehicle at the moment.
Now, is this a car worth buying? And if it is, how much would a nice supercharger/turbo charger cost, with a tight budget in mind? Thanks for any help you guys give me in advance.

The car is worth buying for that amount. However; your idea for the Power Adder is gone to cost to much. Spend the money on getting the body and other items in top shape first. My opinion.

First of all if you want to get something thats fast go find your self a 350. You will already be starting about a second faster on your quarter mile times.
Second your not going to put a turbo/surpercharger on a stock camaro engine? Why you ask. Well for just about every reason. First of all there are too many bottle necks in the tpi system to start putting on forced induction because the majority of the power youd be making would get lost by the time you got to your intake/heads. Second you wont be able to run enough boost through them on stock internals to have power gains that justify the cost of the power adders.
Your best bet is going to be get some bolt ons ie headers, intake, exhaust if you can afford it. And then run a shot of nitrous through the engine.
REMEMBER with a 305 your starting off with a car that runs mid-high 15's where as on a 350 your starting off with a car that runs mid to low 14's. Big difference and if you look hard you can probably find an equally good 350 for the same price.
