Just Some General Maintanince Questions
about how often do you guys change the rear axle oil and what do you replace it with (do they make synthetic if so where and wich)
those with the MSD ignition
Plugs,cap,rotor,wires what do they
usualy last and still keep the car
running well.
and tranny fluid and filter

Synthetics are available for gear lube and tranny. Check out www.amsoil.com or the site on my profile.
Depending upon the severity of your usage, synthetics will last from 3-5 times longer than petroleum based lubes. For gears, 5 years or 100k is no problem with synthetic unless you really abuse it; perhaps annual if you race regularly. Similar with ATF, if you race change it yearly, otherwise 50-100k.
I don't have MSD, someone else will have to answer that one.

82 Berlinetta, orig V-6 car. Rescued w/86 LG4/TH700R with all harnesses, sensors, ECM, etc. 2.73 open. Cat-back from '91 GTA, Accel HEI SuperCoil. AMSOIL syn lubes bumper-to-bumper. Daily driver, work-in-progress (LB9 w/ZZ3 cam, exhaust, paint, etc.).
57 Bel Air, my 1st car. Currently 396 .030 over, Weiand Action+, Edelbrock 1901 Q-Jet, Jacobs Omnipack, 1-3/4" headers, TH400 w/TCI Sat Night Special conv & shift kit, 3.08 10-bolt, AMSOIL syn lubes bumper-to-bumper. Best 15.1 @ 5800' Bandimere. Daily driver while Camaro was being put together.

Don't remember what my book says about the gear oil - whatever it is, is what I do. Just remember to use the right stuff for limited slip or posi, if you have that. As for MSD ignition, I have a '91 Z w/L98 and just put that type ignition system in a few months ago and I love it. My car ain't really modded - just a couple of nickel/dime things, but the MSD stuff I have is the billet distributor, coil, and 8.5 wires with Bosch plugs. Timing is set at 6* BTDC, and it seems to work just great for me...
