starter problem
Hey guys,
Here is what is going on . I was putting on a new starter and overtighted the bolt that holds the main starter wires from battery. Because the bolt and nut are brass or copper they will strip easy. I forgot !! Well I can get the nut fairly tight but is there anything i can do or put on there to keep it from working loose. I was thinkin maybe some locktight or anything that will work. I could put J.B. Weld on there and it will stay until I change the starter .
what do you guys think?

Most likely the nut stripped. Change it. If the terminal stripped as well, replace the solenoid.

Is there enough room to get a couple of washers on the area that is stripped?
I forget just how much thread is left after connecting the cable to the stud.
You could put a couple of lock washers on there and that would cure the problem, providing the stud is long enough to accomodate the cable, washers, and nut.
Worth a try...
