I have a loud whistle coming from my TPI at idle. I relpaced the IAC valve but that didn't help. I went back and cleaned out the seat for the valve better, and it still is whistling. The new valve has a pintle that is shorter than the old one. Should I just clean the old one and put it back in. It also is idling higher than I think it should, around 1200. It is a 5-speed. Ihave only have had the car for a week so I don't know the maintenance that it has had. Any suggestions?

 

Well I put the old IAC in and it idles better, but still whistles. Do I need to reset the computer?

 

check the egr valve? check all your vacuum lines over...

i forgot to put the egr valve back on my 84 z28, and when it started, it whistled really bad.

 

Does the whistle go Wooh-Wooh!! Maybe someone snuck a whistle tip on there without your knowledge. LOL

Check for vacuum leaks.

 

I think the previous owner was Bubb Rubb-WOOO WOOO. LOL

 

It was leaking by the base of the Throttle Body. Just tightened it up.
