Hot start prob- not the starter

I have an 88 305 tbi and have recently replaced the ignition conrtol module and when my car is hot it will not start. I know its not the starter because when i pour ice cold water on the distributer the car will start right up. could any one help me on this one. I live in big TEX and it gets hella hot down here.

Have you tride a known good distributor cap, coil, and rotor?
Your Coil is in the top of the cap and it may have a break in the windings that makes contact when cold but not when hot.

ok i'm a little slow sometimes, but i'd think you'd know it wasn't the starter because the stater engeges and turns the engine over. does it? if not it may be the starter, if it does then you're right it's not the starter. pouring water over the distributor isn't the smartest thing you could be doing. other than the module there isn't anything to fail hot in the distributor. did you use the dieletric greese with the module? if not my bet is you need another module. do you have spark? that might be a good indication if the module is working, use a spark tester not an old plug.

no click and crank at all. I only had to poured water to get home once. I used a niehof ign cont module with all of the di-elecrtic grease provided. I'll probably try the nascar module from checkers . If theres any other info/sugestions im open thanks everyone.

i ithnk it'd be smart move to see if you have power to the starter, if you do then you have a starter problem reguardless of the ice water test. if there's no power to the starter check fuseable link, battery, charging system.
