help with engine please

I just changed the manifold gasket on my 3.1 liter v6 which required removal of the distriber . I marked everything and it won't start unless the gas pedal is fully depressed. I then removed the distributer turned the crank to 0 on the timing tab and aligned the rotor to point at the # 1 cyclinder on the dis. cap check all hoses and wire about 4 times .It still wont start unless enough gas is in the manifold and you open the throtle to w.o.t. then it runs like a the spark wires are in wrong order .it won't idle at all so i can;t check the timing . what am I missing?

You are probably 180 degrees off.

Take out spark plug #1
Stick your finger in the hole
Turn the crank till air pressure blows your finger out of the hole
Then rotate the timing back to 0
Then drop in the distributor

The timing mark hits 0 twice once for the exhaust stroke and again for the compression stroke
You are probably firing #1 on the exhaust stroke.
