I've got a header gasket that is on its way out. I don't know how much longer I can take that noise when I get on it. My question is could that noise be picked up by the knock sensor at high rpm's and therefore pull some timing out?
T he reason I ask is that after doing a couple of mods over last winter I've actually run slower this year. At the track my rpm's used to be consistently at 5500 at the finish line. Now I'm lucky if they hit 4500.
Maybe I'm just in need of another tuneup but it really hasn't been that long.
Any thoughts?

i'd say yes. there was a discussion on this in another post a while back. only way to know for sure would be to hook up a scanner and look at your knock counts.

What's considered normal as far as knock counts?

 

Went to the track today! I could only muster a 14.00 @ 100 mph. It could probably use plugs and wires but I sure was hoping for more!
