help me choose my next mods...
help me choose my next mods...
setup:
1988 iroc, zz4 crate motor, edelbrock TES headers and everything else is bone stock.
2.77 posi 9 bolt, and dying 700r4 (have a rebuilt one in my garage... just being lazy)
i have around 500 to 600 to spend..
obviously i need an AFPR so i guess that drops my spending money down to around $400.
now should i go for dynomax catback and SLP runners with the extra $?
so far that seems like my plans.. afpr, slp runners, and dynomax catback.
if you can think of anything that would give a better bang for the buck lemme know!
thanks for the help

The best bang for the buck is going to be deeper gears. I suggest buying a complete 3.2x or 3.4x 9 or 10 bolt rear end, used. This should certainly be within your budget.
And instead of the dynomax catback, why not get a cutout, and place it on the exhaust pipe right before the pipe bends to go over the rear axle? Dont put it right after the cat, put it right before the bend over the rear axle. Hope this helped.

Putting the exhaust too far forward will decrease the backpressure, and your car will run like a turd. Dont believe me? Unbolt your exhaust at the cat, and take it for a WOT run. The car now has lost tons of bottom end torque, and overall runs like crap. Placing it before the bend will have about as much restriction as a nice catback exhaust, but will be much cheaper.
How do I know this? I dropped my exhaust at the cat on my 89, and the car lost tons of bottom end. Wouldn't even turn the tires over. I now understand how important backpressure really is.
If you can hook, I would conservatively say you will drop .3 to .4 tenths with the rear swap. Pick up some ET Streets, or some Nittos
