Is 5 quarts of oil too much for my 3.1 V6?

Hey guys,
I just gave the car a fresh oil change + filter yesterday. Today when changing oil on a friends car, i figured I might have put too much in the car, i checked the dipstick and it reads just above the crosshatching. I talked to a number of people with 3.1s and they all say 5 quarts, I am using a PF-52 AC Delco filter as well. I hear that too much oil eats away at seals and causes leaks and bad stuff to happen, will this much oil hurt my car?

Is it that hard of a question?

okay that means that it will not cause blue smoke on startup and eat at seals? its just 2 mm above the crosshatching. I dont mean to be a PITA but my engine is in excellent shape and i want to keep it that way.

half a quart under/over is not going to hurt your engine... when you get more than that amount that's when you're going to have problems if it's left unattended.

and the blue smoke on start up is ur valve seal wearing down and not sealin as good becuz that is a wearable part meaning u have to replace them when they go bad, its just like tires or ur oil. when it starts goin bad u replace it. its just from normal wear and tear on the motor.
