SBC 350 #'s

i'm about to get another motor from one of my dads friends. it's nothing special just a old carb'd 350.
here's some #'s:
head: 333882, GM28
Rear of the Block: 20GM 3970010 A49
Front of the block behind alternator: V0805 TBA
can anyone give me some info on this motor? i'm gettin it for free. the only thing i want on it is the edlebrock torker alum. intake. if the motor turns out to be junk i'll just sell it at the swap meet. any info would be appreciated!

Check here. www.mortec.com There is a good amount of info here. the 882 heads are not the best around, but arent' all that bad either. You can get 300hp out of them with some work anyhow.

Sounds like a real typical mid-late 70s 350. One of the most common blocks, the most common heads, which are smogger junk. It would have come with a 929 cam most likely. Sounds like yerbasic 175 HP 12 mpg 350 from the 70s.

Most likely, you called it exactly right, nothing special just an old smogger 350.

But, a 350 block is a 350 block, as far as that goes; and the crank and rods may be re-useable too. Tear it down and see. It might have 4-bolt main caps, if it came from a truck; the V... code might tell you that. I personally don't find it useful to know what sheet metal one of those

yeah my dad mentioned something about it being a 4-bolt 350. it has a edlebrock torker intake, holley carb, stock manifolds. really dont wanna junk this motor. i plan on gettin another 3rd gen after i finsh the one i got. if i leave the motor stock as it is...what could i do to the exhaust system to give it some thunder? and i dont wanna add headers cuz they're too expensive. really not interested in anything over 300 hp. i just want a lil cruiser with some thunder. my 3rd gens wont be raced, just nice daily drivers.
