Engine is acting funny!!!!

Ok Ive noticed some that if I get on it hard it kinda acts like it is skipping. Sometimes it does it and sometimes it doesn't. It really makes me slower. Can someone help me out here???? Thanks!

HA! HA! ... HA! That IS funny!

O.K., now that I got that out of my system, take a close look at the ignition system. Missing under heavy acceleration is often a sign of a weak spark or very lean mixture. Start with the ignition. It's easy to diagnose, and you can't go wrong in testing wires, cleaning plugs, and inspecting the cap/rotor/coil - it's a good preventive measure anyway.

Frankly, if your engine hasn't had a good tune lately...just replace ALL of it. I replace my plugs at least once a year (they usually look great) and then do the wires, cap and rotor at least once every 2 years.

I last changed my coil about 5 years ago and I'll probably replace that next year.

Lastly, check your timing to ensure it is at the proper base reading. I haven't worked on 3.1s, so I can't give you the base timing or tell you where to disconnect the wire to the EST (assuming it is similar in setup to a 5.7). Hopefully, someone can add to those.
