Whirring noise at about 45 MPH
Well, it did this before, and then I stopped noticing it, and it came back. Heres the deal. apparenlty, when the morons that re packed my bearings did that, they didn't tighten the wheel bolt all the way...I don't remember the name of the bolt, but its under the grease cap. Anywho, it was lose, and that was causing my bearing clickin noise. Got that fixed, now when going down the road at about 45 MPH to about 55 or so, I hear a whirring noise when I press on the gas, and to a lesser degree when my foot is not on the pedal. At first thought "oh great my tranny that was JUST rebuilt a few months back is already going out" but then that wouldn't make any sense, cause for one it was just rebuilt and two, it also does it when its in neutral
any ideas? I think its bearings cause they've gone bad....
thanks all!!

I'm going out on a long shot here, but how new are the tires, and is the vehicle properly aligned, any problems with the steering? Also, do you notice the noise coming primarily from the front or the rear of the car?

The front of el caro. The wheels are quite new. It doesn't really shutter like its out of alignment or anything at least not till about 60 or so. But that I always thought was the driveline that camaros are so well known for causing shaking......bearings??
thanks!

hmmm... how tight is the wheel nut for the bearings? If it's forced on there, they may be too snug, which in turn could cause the problem. Have you had all 4 of them packed in the front recently?

yes the front end was repacked when the tranny was rebuilt. It still whirrs, the bolts are snug now. It still makes noise. Ithink the bearings are just plain bad....oh well they'll be replaced when she gets the rebuild soon hopefully!!
it sounds like it coming from the front right of the car. Kind of in the center too though. Anywho, hope to *** it isn't the tranny!!
thanks
