Coil Bind on ZZ3 & ZZ4/LT4 springs

Does anyone know what these springs coil bind at? And what the maximum lift you can use with them?

According to the Competitions Products catalog, coil bind @ 1.160". I don't see a max lift recommendation, but since the ZZ3 cam has .510" lift w/1.5 rockers, that sounds reasonable.

Kevin,

I presume you're talking about the GM 12551483 oval-wire valve springs (or P/N 12495494 in the kit of 16). These springs are conservatively rated to operate with a net valve lift of 0.525". The bind height is 1.220". The target installed height is 1.780", so the maximum gross valve lift has to be under 0.560". Factoring for normal service limits, the 0.035" (or 6%) travel for float is somewhat average compared to the
5% or less of some aftermarket springs. It is probably safe to run these springs to a gross lift of 0.530" without causing fatigue and/or breakage. If those numbers are not high enough, you might want to consider the Crane 11309-1 springs or Comp Cams 986-16 sets.

Vader, which ones are you refering to? I'm asking about both the ZZ3 and the ZZ4/LT4 springs. I have a set of the ZZ3 springs that came on the L98 heads I got. I'm using them now with an LT1 cam and 1.65 rockers that makes it .491/.505 lift. Thanks for the info.
